Abbott and Crabb - Comedians, Musicians, MC's, Comedy
Dou and Djs - Johannesburg
An Oke from
Springs and a Bloke from London, Henry Crabb and
Dave Abbott!!! Well it started in 1977 when they
met for the first time at Cairngorme Caravan Park
near Springs where Henry’s Band, ”Eternal Now” was
doing an afternoon show, the drummer had invited
Dave along for a jam. Dave plugged into Henry’s amp,
not a thing guitarists let other guitarists do
usually, but then Henry’s a nice guy :-), and so a
friendship started. |

Abbott and Crabb
Most people get a bit of a shock to find that they
can actually PLAY their instruments, and rather well
at that, they both sing and their music ranges from
Bluegrass (Dave’s an adept fiddle player and Henry’s
handy on the banjo) to rock (they both play
guitar). Dave is a fine guitar player who has
featured on many other artists' albums, while
Henry’s an expert at….well just being plain
silly!!!!
Adults and children of ALL races and religion’s are
entertained by these two who can make you laugh by,
well ….just making you laugh, no swearing, no blue
jokes, just good clean fun…but how can they make you
laugh like that you ask???? Well you just have to
see them to find out!!!! |

Abbott and Crabb
The duo has become
one of the bastions of the South African
entertainment, cabaret and pub circuit. They have
performed at prestigious venues such as Sun City and
The Carousel, as well as neighbouring countries
Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Namibia. In fact it’s
probably easier to mention the few places that they
haven’t played, rather than the many places where
their brand of comedy and music has had audiences
shouting for more.
They have been
together for the last 20 years, which makes them one
of the oldest surviving bands in the country. (Dave
and Henry aren’t too sure whether this is good or
bad). Over the last ten years they have settled in
Johannesburg, both married with children, but this
does not stop them from travelling to play at
distant venues on a “one off” basis.

Abbott and Crabb
Their
reputation has been built around a show which
combines stand-up comedy and sketches, with a strong
musical performance, based around their considerable
vocal and instrumental abilities. With vocals,
guitars, violin, banjo and assorted props there is a
continual change of sound and mood during their
show, whether you’re laughing, dancing or singing
along, it will be PARTY TIME!!
They have recorded
an album of their own songs called “AT LAST”, which
was released in 1990 and sold well, getting
extensive airplay. Dave and Henry say another album,
this time recorded LIVE, has been recorded and is
currently being mixed for national release soon.
This then is ABBOTT
AND CRABB, enjoy them, they’ll be around for a long
time yet. |
