Alyn
Adams - Comedian And Mc - Johannesburg
Alyn Adams is a forty-something survivor of both a Catholic
education and a Durban upbringing, who has been
cracking up crowds with his quirky, thoughtful
comedy since 1994. He started in improv with
Durban’s Comedy Games, followed by the Johannesburg
troupes of Comic Bytes and Natural Born Kidders. A
founder comic at the Civic Theatre's Punchline Pub,
he has since performed at every stand-up initiative
around the country, as well as the occasional rock
festival. His work includes jokes, observational
comedy and song parodies, but the common thread
running through all his humour is bizarre mental
gymnastics.

Alyn Adams
His offbeat, intellectual spin on the most everyday
phenomena is always original and refreshing – and
completely unlike any other comedy performance on
the South African circuit. In 1996 and 1997, he
performed in Durban, Johannesburg and Grahamstown
with the smash-hit Durban Poison Comedy Roadshow, in
revival in 2006, and was also invited to work on the
Smirnoff International Comedy Festival in Cape Town
(1996/1997) and Durban (1997). In 1998 and 1999, he
presented his solo 90-minute stand-up show, Rant
Boy, at theatres in Johannesburg, Durban and
Grahamstown. |

Alyn Adams
His comedy has been described as “a non-stop flow of
verbal gems” (Mike Tarr, The Daily News) and “the
finest breed of social vivisection” (Charl Blignaut,
The Mail & Guardian).
Since September 1999, Alyn has been a regular act on
the COMEDY EXPRESS, playing a hectic schedule of
venues countrywide. He’s also in growing demand for
corporate bookings, and is a founder member of
Parker Leisure’s latest project, improvisational
comedy in the Who’s Line is it Anyway mould. |

He appeared on Joe Parker’s COMEDY EXPRESS VIDEO in
2000 and was the first comic featured in SABC3’s
COMEDY SHOWCASE (2001). |
