Benita runs fun group coaching sessions in which participants laugh and (sometimes cry) as they discuss Martha Beck’s tools and how they can help you cope with all challenges in your life… ranging from personal, relationships and family, to career chaos and work stress.
Benita Levin studied law at UCT, but traded a potential career in the courtroom for life in the news room after being bitten by the news bug following a holiday stint as a student reporter. She has worked in radio for 15 years, listing the public broadcaster, Kagiso Media and Primedia Broadcasting among her employers. She initially joined Primedia Broadcasting as a news anchor, presenting news on 94.7 Highveld Stereo.
Today she is the deputy news editor for 702 Talk Radio and 94.7 Highveld Stereo. Benita also manages an independent media training programme – following interest from various sectors on how the media operates – and recently started a career advice progamme, which assists students with the employment application process. She also gives motivational talks on finding the balance between career, motherhood…and keeping stretch marks at bay! When not on the news desk, Benita spends as much time as possible with her two young children.
Interview questions with Benita Levin
Q) Which actor or actress would you select to play you in a movie of your life?
A) My favourite actresses are Emma Thomson, Diane Keaton and Meryl Streep. But I don't vaguely resemble any of them, so they'd probably have to use a so-called "unknown" actress...?
Q) What is your most embarrassing moment on air?
A) There've been many! They were all many years ago and they all involved laughing uncontrollably while the jocks did their best to distract the news anchors. The worst was probably when a Durban deejay embarked on his own somewhat embarrassing male dance routine.
