Afrikaans Singer - North West
Berné Hayes

Berne matriculated in 2013 and started working at Thaba Marula during December where he could share his passion for music with the holiday makers and school groups that visited Thaba Marula. He featured regularly as the entertainment for the guests. He then started working for Billie Faul on his game farm in Great Marico where Berne entertained the local and international guests daily. He was then also asked to perform at the local bars and pubs.

He started loading homemade music videos onto Facebook on his 21st birthday after receiving a Laptop. Phillip Rossouw noticed his videos and made contact with him and that is where his dream of having a career in music really started as he launched his first CD. Today he lives his dream daily as a musician and song writer.

Berne was born 1994-10-04 in Stella, in the North West. Raised at Setlagole until the age of five years old and started playing guitar and participating in wrestling. His school career started at Mafikeng Primary school and a then continued in Lichtenburg Primary school where Berne was a wrestler, rugby player and participated in gymnastics; he also participated in local school concerts and formed part of the guitar group at Lichtenburg Primary. At ten years old he was nominated to be part of the Drakensberg boys choir, but unfortunately his parents didn’t send him. During his first year in High School he signed up for music activities, such as “Lichies Got Talent” where he won prizes for his guitar skills. He also participated in various singing activities in the school. He also played guitar and sang with the church choir at the NG Lichtenburg East congregation.

He got the opportunity to start working at John du Toits Motors in 2015 where he received his training and become a qualified mechanic. Berne and his brother lives on a farm outside of Lichtenburg and enjoys playing guitar after work. They write songs for friends and family for their birthdays and the “1400” song was written for the manager at John du Toits Motors, Arrie Alberts.
