Brent
Niemandt - Comedian and Mc - Cape Town
Brent has
performed regularly at the Comedy Warehouse where he
has been praised by Idols Host and Standup Comic,
Colin Moss: “He is bilingual and a very clever man.
We're gonna see much more of him!” In 2002 he
presented his Afrikaans one man show “Hondsdolheid”
at the Grahamstown festival and was praised by the
local papers for delivering fresh Afrikaans comedy.
This one man show has also been performed at the
Highstreet theatre in 2003 and Siroccos Theatre
Restaurant in 2004.
Equally at
home as an English and Afrikaans comic, Brent
Niemandt, is a promising young South African talent.
His comedic ability was shown in his school days
already when he won the orator's competition in 1994
with his hilarious topic: Did Humpty Dumpty really
fall?! The following year he formed “B ‘n B”, which
was a 2-man comedy sketch group with a school
friend. They performed their original comedy
sketches at various school functions. In 2000, Brent
hosted the Cape Town New Look Model of the Year
Competition. He also performed for the Cape Comedy
Collective as part of their “Diva of the week”
theme. |

He has also performed at the Boland Wine, Arts and
Wedding Festival in 2003 and hosted the
entertainment evenings for Kaylo Marketing. And in
January 2007 he performed at the Suidoosterfees as
one of the finalists of DIE SON/SBA KAAPSE JOKES
stand-up competition.
Brent has recently started the Comedy Troupe:
Bek-Rek! The main aim of this group is to
develop and promote Afrikaans stand-up. This group
has taken Cape Town by storm, performing regularly
all over the Cape Province!

Brent Niemandt
With nothing more than a wicked imagination and a
big mouth, Brent goes on a testosterone riff, taking
an original stab at everyday topics like Nursery
Rhymes, Spontaneous Human Combustion and Basic
Rules. His “typical guy” persona makes the audiences
feel at home when he has a go at the more risqué
topics, while his ability to improvise when
interacting with the crowd has won him fans at every
appearance.
Brent is actively involved in searching for new
comedy venues and organising open mic evenings, to
give new comics the opportunity to test their craft
in front of an audience. |
