Brian Mitchell is an Internationally acclaimed Sporting Icon been a 14 x Undefeated World Boxing Champion and the only South African Professional Boxer ever inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in New York in 2009.
Brian is a 5 x Award Winner of the State Presidents Gold Medal from 3 State Presidents of South Africa, PW Botha, FW De Klerk & Nelson Mandela.
Brian's started the sport of boxing at the age of 9 years old at the Ellis Park Boxing Club, then completing his amateur career at the Malvern Boxing Club. in his 10 year stint as an amateur he competed in over 100 amateur fights.
Brians biggest boxing hero was his father, Brian Mitchell senior who was also a South African Boxing Champion in 1962.
Brian is a proud pupil of Jeppe High School for boys, and also has a NTC technical diploma from Johannesburg tech.
Brian's amazing sporting journey was marred by tragedy when a fellow boxer Jacob Morake tragically passed away after been knocked out in the 12th round . Brian then went on to the greatest Boxing Career by and Boxing South Africa, winning 2 world titles and competing in 14 without a loss. This after he defended his South African title without a loss 9 times.
Due to the political environment of the Country and Sanctions placed on the Country after Winning The World Title at Sun City in his Native Country, the WBA gave him an ultimatum he either gets stripped of the World Title or he can keep the Title but may never defend in his home Country only Internationally. This was the first time in the History of Boxing Ever that such an ultimatum had been placed on a Boxer.
This lead Brian to defending all his Titles abroad incl ( Puerto Rico, Panama City, France, Italy, Spain, England, USA to mention a few).
Since retirement from the Sport in 1993, Brian has gone on to be a successful motivational / inspirational speaker and currently is the top Boxing Commentator for Supersport. Brian is also an MC for Charity for Golf Days, Guest Speaker Auctioneer of Sporting Memorabilia and as a Celebrity Guest for Golf Days, his other favourite sport.
