Lana English, well-known for her role as `Christine`
in The Phantom of the Opera, teams up with her
brother Victor to sing some wonderful, well known
compositions from Puccini to Verdi, Andrew Lloyd
Webber, and songs made famous by Sarah Brightman,
Josh Groban, Boccelli and Pavarotti, and so many
more...
Lana English:
She started singing at a young age in the church
choir. At the age of 17 she made her solo debut,
which was followed by various offers for weddings
and concerts, among them as “Maria” in The Sound of
Music.
In 1993 she started part-time singing lessons with
Vetta Wise, and began singing in the adhoc
chorus at Capab. After attending a master class with
Wendy Fine, she was recommended to Alvon Collison,
and this resulted in her starring in Showtime and
Showtime 2001 at Artscape.
She worked as a dental nurse / receptionist for 12
years until end June 2002, after which she gave up
her job to sing full-time as a permanent member of
the Cape Town Opera Vocal Ensemble.
Lana has also sung with the SA Navy Band, and still
does so on a regular basis. She has also sung for
various government functions and heads of state, as
well as prominent leaders, locally and abroad, most
notably for Archbishop Desmond Tutu’s 70th birthday
celebrations at his residence. |

At the end of October 2003, she auditioned for The
Phantom of the Opera, and was offered the leading
role of “Christine Daae”.
She is still actively involved in the church choir,
and performs at various launches and concerts. She
also often performs with the Cape Town Three Tenors,
at various festivals. She recently joined Rory
Rootenberg in his production of “Behind the Mask”,
performing nationally and internationally, as they
have just returned from singing on board the MSC
Rhapsody that sailed to Italy.
Lana returned from Cape Town after a season of
Behind the Mask at the Baxter Theatre to rave
reviews. She has also written and directed a show
called Belles & Beaux, which debut at NAF
Grahamstown and received amazing reviews, which also
was invited to do Morning Melodies at the Baxter in
Feb 2008
Victor Siljeur:
Victor, who has from a young age had a natural
singing ability, received singing coaching from
Italian tenor, Nicolai Chencherle and more recently
from Ann Hamblin. He also has extensive choral
singing experience and features as a soloist on a
number of the New Apostolic church CD`s.
As a qualified motor technician, Victor spent
thirteen years in the motor industry and during this
time did various performances alongside his sister
Lana English, he also sang at many corporate gala
events, including the occasion of Archbishop Desmond
Tutu’s 70th birthday celebration at his home.
In 2002 at the Baxter theatre, in Cape Town, Victor
performed with the UCT orchestra, conducted by Prof.
Jurgen Schwetering.
In 2005 he was invited to perform as one of Cape
Town’s Three Tenors, and here made his debut as a
tenor after always being referred to as a `high
baritone`.
For Victor, one of the greatest privileges is to be
able to perform with one of our country’s greatest
sopranos, namely Lana English. In September 2006,
Lana & Victor performed in the UK at the residence
of BBC World’s gourmet chef, James Martin.
Victor recently made his debut singing on board the
MSC RHAPSODY, where he perform with renound Italian
tenor Maestro Domingo Stasi.
Victor and Lana have recently completed and released
their first CD and are eagerly working towards a
second one. |
