Dawnay -
R&B, Pop and Solo Musician - Johannesburg
Besides being a very popular radio artist here in
South Africa and abroad, Dawnay has also now
established himself as a very successful live act.
Introducing DAWNAY, one of South Africa's best known
male artists. This multi-talented individual has a
music career that has spanned close to 15 years, in
which time DAWNAY has more that proved his mettle as
a producer, songwriter, performer and musician.
He showcases a creative drive that is always
innovative, consistently excellent and definitely
one that has contributed immeasurably to South
Africa's creative wealth, where his charm and talent
come in equal measure and being renowned (or is that
notorious?) for the fanaticism of his female
devotees |

Dawnay
2001 with his red-hot CD single breaking all chart
records in the Cape, toppling, at various times,
artists such as SHAGGY and DESTINY'S CHILD from the
No 1 position.
With that said, DAWNAY is certainly not a
'one-hit-wonder', his follow up singles burning up
the airwaves include ‘HIGH.. OOOPS BABY!', YOU'RE MY
WORLD', the solid groove -club anthem 'THE REAL
THING', 'MY BABY TONIGHT'….. and, 'COON CARNIVAL'. |

Having first conquered the Cape, DAWNAY went on to
seduce the rest of South Africa, and at the time of
writing, steps are in motion regarding his
international release - where 'U Touch Me' has
caused interest. As a result of this interest,
Warner Music UK sent DAWNAY a brand new track to
record - 'OOPS DO U LUV ME', which also appears on
'2nd Coming'.
In addition, new remixes were done by Warner Music
UK of 'U touch Me' - which appear for the first time
ever in South Africa - along with a new video as
well.
DAWNAY caused a sensation opening for SHAGGY on his
2002 tour of South Africa, where he securely
established himself not only as a No. 1 recording
artist, but also as a live performer of great
ability and talent.
Recent additions to his list of achievements include
performances at the Waterdome, the Ubuntu Village
over the World Summit period, Highveld Radio's
JO'BURG DAY Event as well as the Jacaranda Pops
2002, a challenging live musical extravaganza, where
he performed with the addition of a 56 piece
orchestra and 60 piece choir.
In 2002 Dawnay also received a SAMA nomination for
"Best pop album". Dawnay's hit song "You touch me",
was also used in a "Simba" advert and the song was
also the only local song used in the Coca-Cola pop
stars auditions. |
Dawnay
'2nd
Coming' features a brace of new hits - most notably
the irresistible 'BRANDY' and the infectious 'GIVE
ME ONE MORE CHANCE' - both brand-new originals - and
also a stonking, steaming remake of the classic hit
'(Flash A) FLASHLIGHT.'
In 2005, Dawnay collaborated with with other South
African Superstars (Watershed, Malaika, Dr Victor,
Yolanda, Choppa, Eleven and Denim) on the SA Artists
Relief Project - "Side by side with angels" to raise
funds for tsunami victims.
Internationally, DAWNAY has signed a deal in London,
for a global record and music publishing deal with
WARNER MUSIC INTERNATIONAL in February of this year,
releasing 8 different re-mixes of 'U TOUCH ME'
across Europe' UK, France, Spain, Greece, Germany,
Sweden, Ireland, Austria, Switzerland etc. |
