Turntablist, DJ and producer ...
The pinnacle of Dj Calculus’s career came in
2009 when he represented South Africa at the DMC
World DJ Championships, competing in the
Supremacy category of the World Finals, as well
as chosen to be part of a legendary panel of
judges, adjudicating the World Finals and the
Eliminations that year.
Respected in the turntablist battle scene both
locally and internationally as a cutting-edge
competitive turntablist, having competed in the
DMC’s, IDA & WTK Worldwide Scratch
Battle’s.
Known as a party rocker, his style includes
incorporating his turntablism and production
skills as a performance composed of quick mixing
and high energy mash-ups across various genres.

DJ Calculus
Dj Calculus began his musical journey in 2002 Dj'ing at local parties within Johannesburg,
after 2 years started playing club gigs and
events, getting involved in the art of producing
- although following the art of turntablism more
intensely.
Having appeared on local TV shows (E-TV, SABC,
DSTV), radio (Y-FM & 5FM) and local magazines
... performing at popular clubs such as;
Insanity, Carfax, Horror Cafe, Sutra, Tokyo
Star, Aqua, 9's, Bassline, Fuel Cafe, Loaded,
Red Cafe, Club Keyes, Tempo's, Roxy's, Sublime,
Cool Runnings, Franky Bananaz, 88, Blue Chip &
The Woods ...
Performed at live shows; Woodstock, RedBull
Extreme Sports Show (Coca-Cola Dome), Write 4
Gold (Newtown), International Music Festival (Bassline),
Boogaloos (Monte Casino), Lucky Fish, Fu-Cha,
Media Tech Expo, Sun City Spring Break, H20, SA
& World DMC Finals 09' (Indigo O2 Arena -
London) ...
In 2008 joining his long time practice partner
'The Cutt', being recruited into the 'Spindle'
turntablist crew alongside Dj Hamma.

In 2009 went on to release a series of mixtapes
' Keep It On The Download Mixtape Series ',
covering a wide variety of music genres such as;
Hip-Hop, R&B, Drum n' Bass, Jungle, Dubstep,
Breaks and Glitch Hop ...
Being dubbed the ' Underground Mixtape King Of
Jozi '
Mixing styles include incorporating his
turntablism and production skills into his mix
sets, which include genres such as; hip-hop,
R&B, drum n' bass, dubstep, glitch-hop, grime,
bass, jungle, new jack swing, funk, soul,
breaks, trip-hop, electronica, breakbeats,
nu-rave, house, garage, 2 Step, acid-jazz,
reggae, big beat, dancehall, ragga, latin, jazz,
dance and pop.
