Gerry Rantseli Elsdon is one of the most familiar faces in the entertainment industry. Having presented several shows, including Big Brother, the icon has now firmly established herself as a businesswoman, and is always in demand as an MC.

Gerry Rantseli-Elsdon is a South African television presenter, host, MC and businesswoman best known for co-hosting the first season of the reality television competition Big Brother South Africa, in 2001.

Gerry started her career with the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) and whilst there anchored the arts programme Artworks, an environmental show called Green Machine and a children’s programme titled Gardening with Gerry.

During the years 1996 – 1998 she also wrote a column for Cosmopolitan SA entitled Out to lunch with Gerry.

In 1997 she worked with Revlon SA as part of their public relations team organising the main launches and special events relating to the company’s ethnic product ranges. Always a natural presenter Gerry made application and was screen tested by M-Net, South Africa’s premiere entertainment channel during the same year – a career move she has never regretted!

Gerry’s television charm and wit soon won her the media title of one of Africa’s favourite female stars and was she was subsequently featured in the AGFA David Dodds ‘Beautiful women of South Africa’ calender.

Her vast stage experience includes the hosting of many corporate functions and events, including both the semi-finals and finals of M-Net’s Face of Africa awards, while she became a household name with viewers from all walks of life as co-presenter of the never-to-be-forgotten first edition of Big Brother South Africa.

As a motivational speaker Gerry Rantseli now has the opportunity to share her inspirational story with women of all walks of life – in so doing encouraging them to reach for, and touch the stars! 

She also conducts grooming and presentation workshops under the Gerry and Friends banner, an area in which she excels!

Gerry is determined to inspire an interest in the arts amongst young people and to encourage creativity as a means of expression while also instilling a culture of learning and teaching business skills to equip young performers and artists for the future.
