Gift Gwe
His understanding of the marketplace and need to
combine both his original music with a phenomenal
selection of cover songs have always ensured that
his live shows were memorable. Gift on stage is
quite simply an experience but with his new NINE
Piece Band it’s now an event.
Gift Gwe was born in Queenstown but grew up in
Mosselbay. Gift started singing in the church choir
at school. Gift was one of four winners of Mosselbay
Idols who formed a group which performed around the
Western Cape. In 2005 he entered the M-Net Idols
competition, with the help of his mentor Lenise
Hendricks. He soon became a favorite with the Idols’
audience. Gift was the face of Toyota Yaris. His
first single hit the shelves shortly after the
nationwide Idols contest in 2005.
Gift Gwe
Runner-up in the Idols 2005 competition, Gift Gwe
says he has music in his genes.
A sound engineering student, he says he has always
been very interested in music and sang in the church
choir in his home town Mossel Bay.
He dreams of an international music career and
believes he can make it, and judging by his success,
so do many others!
