Hlengiwe Mhlaba has become the driving force
behind the South African gospel music industry.
Since the release of her debut album Dwala Lami,
this thirty six year old from Kwa-Zulu Natal has
never looked back; she has been a wonder to all by
re-charging the gospel atmosphere in this country.
Her music has touched and shaped destinies of many.
Mhlaba has dominated the scenes and now she has
dropped her Fifth album titled Hlala Kuye. The 14
tracked offering is out and hot.
As it is the case with all her albums, she lets
her creativity lead the way, the combination of The
Lord’s prayer and the South African Anthem can only
explain one thing: creativity. from conservative and
old to the vibey and worshipping so she changed the
song.
You cannot separate Hlengiwe from her Jazz. Her
album is not complete until she has included a track
with a jazzy feel. Kuhle moya (track 6) and Believe
in track 11 these are the two songs that once again
are showcasing her love and capabilities for the
genre. The jazz fans will fall in love with these
ones. “He that believeth in the father and the son
will have everlasting life” there goes the jazzy
tune.
The album has four English songs, one of them is
the re arranged Be still, she gave it her best ,
the worshipper in her came alive, it is the most
beautiful rendition in this album, this will
enable her to cater for all South Africans and her
international audiences. |
