Rob grew up in Bellville, Cape Town where he attended Kasselsvlei High School. After living in Johannesburg for five years, he moved back to the Mother City in early 2013 to broadcast the lunchtime show on 5fm from the Sea Point studios.
Vember began his broadcasting career on campus radio station, Rhodes Radio, whilst attending the University in Grahamstown as a BA student.
During this time he caught the attention of commercial radio station, Heart 104.9fm, who offered him the weekend breakfast show in 2006. He later joined national station, 5fm which saw him host the 12 – 3pm weekday slot. Rob took over from Tim Thabethe, who moved to the evening show weekdays from 7 – 10pm. Station Manager, Colleen Louw comments, “Rob has a national profile but is a Capetonian at heart. For years he has been passionate about local, Western Cape, focused content and now he gets to do just that at Kfm.”
