Roger Goode - Celebrity DJ - Johannesburg
Roger Goode is a South African DJ who rose to local
fame for his first single "In The Beginning", which
featured on 5FM's Top 40. This later led to him
being signed up with a local dance record label,
SheerDance, under which he released his first album,
Coming Up for Air in 2001.
"In The Beginning" prompted Purple Eye Records to
approach Goode, who allowed Ferry Corsten to remix
the track, which went on to the UK Singles Chart
(#33, 2002) and MTV's Music Video Chart. At 21,
Goode was signed to Pete Tong's London Records, who
promoted "In The Beginning" in the Buzz Chart, and
showcased the track on Danny Rampling's Weekly Top
10.
Goode performs most Saturdays on 5FM's evening dance
segment, The Saturday Surgery. |

Roger Goode
Its no surprise that back in the day Goode was
passionate about music, recording jingles at the age
of 8 and a self taught pianist at the age of 10, he
proved to be a strong contender from the start.
Combined with his early musical and computing
knowledge, he slaved away and like so many other
hopefuls spent his time making recordings and
sending demo tapes to radio stations and recording
labels across the country.
Unlike so many however, Goode got quick recognition
and was spotted by Sheer Music. His work with the
song ‘In the Beginning’ dominated the charts and led
to Goode being signed by Pete Tong’s London record
company which later led him to start working on the
weekend electronica shows on National youth radio
station 5fm. |

So where does the
surgeon of spin get his inspiration from?
“Everywhere, everything, everyone.” As he says
himself, “it’s pulled from the rich heritage and
diverse roots found all over Africa”, and this
combined with Goode’s faithful following of both
national and international fans, contributes to his
award winning success. |
