SSPEL stands for Spreaders of Gospel; it’s an afro gospel music group consisting of 6 male vocalists. This group was formed in a rural area of Eastern Cape called Ndevana, and it was formed by Khayalethu Ngalonkulu and Sipheni Baku-Baku. In 2013 after spotting and meeting other male musicians in different churches from their community, Khayalethu and Sipheni decided to start a music group that will spread good news with an objective of inspiring other young people from their community and that was the birth of SSPEL. The group has since grown to be well known, recognised and loved mostly in the Eastern Cape for their unique sound of Gospel. Their sound involves various elements and genres such as: Afro Pop, Jazz, Afro Soul, RNB and Gospel and they call their music Soul Praise / Afro Gospel
SSPEL has performed in small and big stages mostly in Johannesburg and Eastern Cape, sharing the stage with the likes of Khaya Mthethwa, the late Sfiso Ncwane, Judith Sephuma, Solly Mahlangu, Bethusile Mcinga, Dumi Mkokstad, Dr Tumi, Joyous Celebration, Mabongi, Afrotraction, Lebo Sekgobela, Amanda Black, Sjava, Sands etc.
