Thabang Zwane -
Kruna and Musician - Johannesburg
Kruna, also known as Thabang Zwane, comes from
Thokoza which is part of the Ekurhuleni Metro. The
name Kruna is a phonetic spelling of the noun
Crooner. His music embraces the meaning of this word
completely.
Kruna’s musical style in the album “Khula”, released
under SonyMusic/Hands-On productions, is a fusion
between R’n’b and African Jazz largely influenced by
urban youth genres such as Hip Hop and a touch of
Kwaito. The lyrics in vernacular are delivered by a
smooth melodic voice and harmonies with a distinct
African signature, touching the soul like a crooner
is supposed to.
Airplay
Since the release of the album “Khula”, late 2007,
Kruna’s song “Nunu” featuring Kwesta has been
receiving massive airplay on Gauteng’s biggest Youth
station , Y-FM.
While the song “Ulubambo Lwami” became a hit on
Kaya-FM and Umhlobo Wenene FM where it
made it to their Top 30 charts.
The music on the album has been enjoyed on Ukhozi
FM, Lesedi FM, Inkwenkwezi FM and many others.
With the song “Gijima”, an inspirational choral
classic adapted with an up-tempo funky feel,
resonating well with the listeners. |
