Today mime might mean French people in face paint, but the genre actually has its origins in the theatres of Ancient Greece. Back then things were very different: mimes were simply dramatisations, often of scenes of daily life, relying on elaborate movement and gesture but also incorporating speech and some song.
A mime artist, or simply mime (from Greek μῖμος, mimos, "imitator, actor"),[1] is a person who uses mime as a theatrical medium or as a performance art. Miming involves acting out a story through body motions, without the use of speech. In earlier times, in English, such a performer would typically be referred to as a mummer. Miming is distinguished from silent comedy, in which the artist is a character in a film or skit without sound.

Alphonso has been in the entertainment industry from 1997, as well as the TV and Movie industry from 1999. Behind the cameras as well as infront of the cameras. He has worked with many locally and international artists and productions as well as Frans Max films (wellknown soapie Egoli) SAB, national and international blue chip brands.
His many talents lie also in the entertainment for kids and corporate with professional face paint , balloon art and illusions. The art of magic and entertainment had been brought to life by alphonso’s entertaining and energetic shows around the world that wow audiences from young and old.
In 2004 Alphonso become a full time entertainer. In 2007 he worked with SABC and The Great Moscow Circus while touring SA, doing a reality TV series called “ The Ringmaster”. In 2008 he did his first international show for Eden Island in the Seychells. Then in 2009 he was invited to work in Miami for Carnival Cruise Liners in America. 2010 he start working fulltime with the Mc Laren Circus in SA.
