After moving from KwaZulu-Natal to the Vaal in 2007, Anzo found his voice in cyphers and grassroots performances, where his sharp lyricism and grounded perspective quickly set him apart.

Those early years culminated in a pivotal win at the Back To The City 10K Challenge in 2015, a moment that launched his debut EP, Indaba Yam. The project presented Anzo as a chronicler of township life—unfiltered, reflective, and deeply human. It laid the foundation for a career rooted in substance rather than spectacle.

Since then, he has steadily grown into a multi-dimensional artist, respected for his ability to move fluidly between hip-hop, Afro-influenced sounds, and soulful expression. His work has reached beyond albums and singles, including music composed for television, further expanding his creative footprint.

In 2024, he reached a major career milestone with the release of his debut album, Ubumina, a personal and introspective project that has already garnered over 1 million streams. The album reflects growth, self-awareness, and artistic confidence. That same year, his feature on Sjava’s “Amakhehla” became a breakout success, surpassing 5 million streams and reinforcing his presence on the mainstream stage.

Anzo’s live performances are equally impactful. He has appeared on prestigious stages such as Red Bull Symphonic, Sjava’s One Man Show, Back To The City, and festivals across Africa.
