About Cathy Del Mei
Cathy Del Mei is a South African saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist known for her elegant yet high-energy performances. Based in Johannesburg, she has been performing for more than 15 years, thrilling audiences with her smooth, sultry saxophone and keyboard sets.
She obtained a National Diploma in Light Music from Pretoria Technikon in 1994, and has studied at INHOUSE Audio Training centre, specialising in Sound Engineering using the advanced music software programme, LOGIC AUDIO.

Cathy began her career as a cocktail pianist but kept her focus firmly fixed on a solo career. She developed her skills as a saxophonist, establishing her own, distinctive sound, that is enjoyed by thousands. Her talents have been incorporated in sell-out theatre productions, in some of the world’s top bands and she has had a rare opportunity of touring the Middle East.
Locally, Cathy has established a niche on the corporate function circuit and is one of the most sought-after sax performers for elite company functions. Her exuberant style and love of performing draws you into a magical world of artistic excellence with a touch of soul, a hint of jazz and the sensual rhythm of the blues, all wrapped up in a contemporary approach that mesmerises audiences, night after night.
Cathy’s love and respect for children led her on a very special path and drove her need to do that little more with her talent. And so Angeltunes was conceptualised.
