About Crimson House
Fronted by acclaimed South African singer-songwriter Riaan Smit, Crimson House is a high-caliber live music act known for its distinctive sound, strong musicianship and memorable stage performances. Based in Cape Town and available nationwide, the group can adapt its format to suit a wide range of events, from intimate gatherings and elegant corporate functions to weddings, festivals and large-scale concerts.
Crimson House draws from a broad musical palette that includes rock, blues, folk, country, funk, jazz and popular classics, while also incorporating original music into its repertoire. This gives the act room to move naturally between different moods and audiences. An acoustic performance can provide a relaxed soundtrack for a dinner or cocktail function, while a larger ensemble can create the energy required to turn a celebration or festival into a full live music experience.
With more than two decades of international touring experience behind Riaan Smit, Crimson House brings considerable stage experience to every performance. The act has appeared at major venues and events, including performances at Kirstenbosch, while Riaan's work as a vocalist, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist has taken him to audiences both in South Africa and abroad.
More on Crimson House
Crimson House was founded by Riaan Smit and Arno van Zyl and has grown from its early blues and roots influences into an expansive live music project. Over the years, the sound has developed into a distinctive blend of genres, drawing on everything from roots music and rock to funk, folk and African influences.
A key part of the Crimson House experience is its flexibility. The act can be presented as a solo performer, duo or full live band, allowing the musical setup to be matched to the atmosphere and scale of the occasion. Larger lineups can feature additional instrumentalists and vocalists, creating a richer concert-style presentation for audiences who want the music to take center stage.
The Crimson House format also works particularly well for events where the entertainment needs to evolve throughout the occasion. A more understated acoustic set can complement a reception or dinner, before transitioning into an upbeat live performance designed to get guests involved and onto the dance floor.
