About Gerda Steyn
Gerda Steyn is one of South Africa’s most accomplished distance runners, but her story is about far more than medals, records and finish times. Born and raised on a farm near Bothaville in the Free State, Gerda originally trained and worked as a quantity surveyor before discovering, almost by chance, just how far her talent for running could take her. After moving to Dubai in 2014, she joined a running club simply to meet people and stay active. What began as a social hobby soon became a remarkable professional career.
