About Radio Kalahari Orkes
RKO is a South African group led by actor and funnyman Ian Roberts. Our music is based on traditional roots and folk with flavours of Ghoema, Kwela, Afrikana, Celtic and other World genres and the lyrics portray crazy stories of current life in S.A.
Radio Kalahari Orkes have established themselves as favourites in the S.A musical landscape through a series of hits ( ex. Kaptein Kaptein , Staan my By) and top selling albums (Opgestook and Heuningland).
In front of the choir is the favorite steeple of the Kalahari oasis, Boet (Ian Roberts). He leads the orchestra into a live, sometimes avereign, performance of the best music that Afrikaans currently offers. They can sing! And play a mouthpiece, riel, dance and guitar.
The band is currently very active on the performance circuit and with enigmatic actor and TV personality Ian Roberts as lead singer, and world renown writer Rian Malan as co-composer and lyricist, the public demand for the band is still on the rise.
