Sechaba Gqeba

MC, Radio Presenter and Voice Over Artist - Johannesburg
Sechaba Gqeba

Sechaba Gqeba – also known as Sechaba G – may have grown up in Gauteng but today she presents a lunchtime show on KFM from 11am to 1pm; the biggest radio station in the Western Cape. This year, she is celebrating the huge milestone of having worked in radio for 10 years.

She discovered her love for radio at the age of 18 after going on a field trip to the Grahamstown National Arts Festival in 2005 where she was selected for a radio workshop. She then went on to study Journalism at the University of Johannesburg while working as a news reader at a local community radio station. In 2008, she started off as a news intern for EWN and later moved on to read the news for SAFM, Radio 2000, and then became the overnight host on KayaFM; all of this before becoming a host on KFM.

A self-professed foodie and lover of all things fashion, Sechaba adds a unique combination of class and fun to the lunchtime slot on KFM. Her show is all about connecting with people of the Western Cape and she is passionate about inspiring young women to chase their dreams. “I have stood in long lines for various presenter searches, recorded demos for voice over opportunities on numerous radio stations and I am very familiar with the taste of disappointment,” says Sechaba. In the near future Sechaba hopes to begin a career in TV.

Apart from being on air in the afternoons, you’ll find Sechaba exploring Cape Town’s hidden gems with her husband and son.

Sechaba is a seasoned MC; having worked on activations such as the annual Cape Town Carnival, K-Day, the Asics SA Tiger Perfect Pair Fashion Exhibition, the Mariah Carey’s “Sweet, Sweet Fantasy Tour” in Cape Town, Lionel Richie's “All The Hits All Night Long Tour” in Cape Town, and most recently the MTN Entrepreneurial Challenge.

She has also done regular voice overs for Woolworths, Audi, LeadSA, the Cape Town Carnival, DHL, Beares, the J&B Met, Johnson & Johnson, Engen to name but a few clients.
